I am a Boulder, Colorado based illustrator and designer with a passion for mountains, wandering the world, and bringing life to stories, brands, products, gift and stationery items. I work with everything from contemporary digital media, to the more handcrafted mediums of paper collages, acrylics, and china marker. I enjoy simplicity, whimsy, wee characters, and collecting and cutting found paper.
Raised by my grandmother and sister, I spent my childhood in a small Portuguese fishing town called Montijo. For as long as I can remember, we often made things by hand as a family. While my grandmother gardened and baked delicious cakes, my sister and I spent our time making clothes for our dolls and building twig shelters near my grandmother’s country home.
My childhood has greatly impacted my current work, fostering my sense of imagination and serving as creative inspiration throughout my life. I am inspired by the innocence and naiveté of children’s art, frolicking adventures through forests and mountains, vintage children’s books found during thrift shop excursions, and by folk art across the globe.
